WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ADULT CLASS

  • Initial line up and greeting

  • 15 Min of warm up and drills

  • 30 Min of techniques of the day

  • 15-20 Min rolling

Our adult classes have ages from 16 to 55 year olds and everything in between. It doesn’t matter your age, fitness or skill level, classes are designed for everyone to lean and grow.

It’s never to late to start.

FAQs

What do I need to bring to class?

Bring a water bottle, which can be filled here at the dojo. Wear workout cloths. Put watches and jewelry away and be ready to get a workout.

Do I need a gi?

You do not need a Gi right away. Try out the class and see if you like it, which you will. Our classes are Gi classes so you will want one once you commit. You can order an official Carlson Gracie Gi through the teacher.

Am I too old to start training?

You are never to old to start training. We have over 12 students who are 40 years old or older. If there are techniques that you feel uncomfortable doing you can always pass. Our oldest student is 55 years old. Don’t be intimidated. All the old moms and dads love it and so will you.

Do I need to be in shape to start Jiu Jitsu?

No, come the way you are. You will get in shape when you start training regularly. You can’t help but eat better and start living a healthier lifestyle once you start training Jiu Jitsu. We have students of all shapes and sizes so you will have someone you can partner up with.

I have no experience doing anything, is that ok?

Yes!, you don’t need any experience to start. Classes are designed to teach the first day beginners as well as the experienced higher belts. You won’t be the only new student learning, just get to class and you will see.

Im intimidated, will I get beat up?

No you won’t get beat up. Ohana Jiu Jitsu Academy is a safe place to train. You can pass on anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. After a couple weeks you will start to understand how it works and you will gain so much confidence on and off the matts.
